2020 was a challenging year and saw us transition to a screen-based competition. We’re very excited to announce that we’re back for 2021with Showquest, Toi AND OnScreen!
As you know, 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year for all. When Level 4 lockdown hit, we knew it would have a huge effect on Showquest for 2020. We also knew how important it was to provide a creative platform for young rangatahi around Aotearoa. As a team, we went back to the drawing board and came up with a one-off screen challenge, which we titled 'Showquest on Screen'. We were overwhelmed by positive feedback and enthusiasm so for 2020 will be offering...
Showquest is the original stage-based competition where students perform live in front of their friends & whānau at a professional venue in their region.
Toi is a Wearable Art competition & showcase at our live Showquest events.
OnScreen is brand new for 2021 and is a short-film competition for high school students.
At Showquest, we strive to be inclusive of all students year 1-13 around the country. Typically, Showquest caters to the dance, drama, arts & technology focused students. Toi tends to appeal to the design and arts students and with the introduction of OnScreen, this now brings in the media studies and photography young rangatahi. We know that performing on stage can be daunting for many and encourage ākonga to get involved behind the scenes in different ways! Showquest, Toi & OnScreen are all designed to be highly student-led. We understand that Primary & Intermediate Schools will naturally need more teacher involvement, however we encourage you to let you students creativity run wild wherever you can!
How amazing is it that we can encourage and motivate the leaders of tomorrow!?
In the midst of a very uneasy time, we are very grateful to be able to provide these three programmes for students in Aotearoa. It is absolutely understandable that you may be unsure if an entry is possible at this time and in this case, we invite you to register and we'll take this simply as an expression of interest.
